Midwest Web, Inc., Lincoln, NE a leading provider of data management and direct marketing services announces it has achieved certification under the Statement on Auditing Standards No. 70 (SAS 70) Type II.
SAS 70 is a widely recognized auditing standard developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). A service auditor's examination performed in accordance with SAS No. 70 represents a service organization has been through an in-depth audit of their control activities.
Why is it important? “Organizations must demonstrate the integrity of their controls when they host data belonging to their customers. Midwest Web Inc. is committed to setting and maintaining high security standards and controls. A SAS70 Type II validates the quality and integrity of the standards and controls by using an unbiased, accredited, auditing and accounting firm to test the controls.” says Doug Garrison, CISSP, Midwest Web, Inc. The audit examined eleven control areas drawn from COBIT (Control Objectives for Information and related Technology from AICPA) and ISO17799 (International Organization of Standardization) including: Systems Security, Physical Security, Data Back Up and Storage, Performance and Capacity, Quality Management, Change Management, and Human Resources.

- Postal rate change slated for 2007
The Goveners of the Postal Service voted on March 19th to implement the Postal Regulatory Commissions recommended rates under protest.
The Board set May 14th as the effective date for the new rates.
The Governors have concluded that three issues would benefit from further consideration:
1) Standard Mail Flats
2) the Nonmachinable Surcharge for First Class Mail letters
3) the Priority Mail Flat Rate Box.
